SAN FRANCISCO (VENTUREWIRE) -- Walden International said it made the final closing of its latest fund, Pacven Walden Ventures V (Pacven V) and other funds operating under the heading of Pacven V. The total amount to be invested by the funds within Pacven V will be $1 billion. Walden said Pacven V would invest $5 million to $25 million in the seed and startup capital stages of companies located in Asia and the U.S. Pacven V will focus on investments in communications, software, Internet, semiconductors, electronics, and life sciences. Fifteen partners led by Walden chairman Lip-Bu Tan will manage the fund. Investors in Pacven V include AOL Time Warner Ventures, Apaptec, Commonfund Capital, CSFB, DBS Bank, Goldman Sachs, HarboutVest Equity, Pantheon, Sumitomo, Temasek Holdings, and Verizon. http://www.wiig.com
